In 1978, director Martin Scorsese turned the camera on his friend and
roommate, Steven Prince whose life was more fascinating than what any
screenwriter could dream up. The compelling documentary that emerged,
'American Boy' was to become Scorsese's "lost" film, as it was never
properly released. 'American Prince' is a sequel of sorts, continuing
where 'American Boy' left off and reintroducing Steven to a new
generation of film buffs.
'American Prince' premiered at SXSW in March, 2009 to rave reviews. Harry Knowles of Ain't it Cool found it to be "the perfect companion to Scorsese's legendary semi-Lost film". Cinematical writes "I realize that this is probably sacrilege, but I liked Pallotta's film better than Scorsese's".
